Scholarship Eligibility & Requirements

Purpose
The TexFirst Scholarship Fund is dedicated to investing in the next generation of leaders across the trades, law enforcement, agriculture, and medical fields. This scholarship is specifically intended for students who are from Texas, currently reside in Texas, or are attending an accredited Texas institution. By focusing on homegrown talent, TexFirst aims to strengthen the workforce and future of Texas while empowering students who will directly contribute to the growth and resilience of our communities.

Eligibility

  • Must be a legal resident of the United States.

  • Preference is given to applicants residing in Texas or attending a Texas institution.

  • Must be a graduating high school junior or senior, current college student, or trade school student enrolled in an accredited program.

  • Applicant must be pursuing a degree, certification, or training program in one of the following areas: Trades, Law Enforcement, Agriculture, or Medical/Healthcare.

Requirements

  • GPA Requirement: Applicants are expected to have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.

  • Preference will be given to students with a 3.0 GPA or higher.

  • Students with a GPA below 3.0 may still apply if they can demonstrate exceptional leadership, community service, or a strong commitment to their chosen career path in the trades, law enforcement, agriculture, or medical fields.

  • Proof of enrollment (letter of acceptance or current enrollment verification from an accredited institution).

  • Completed application form.

  • One (1) letter of recommendation from a teacher, employer, or community leader.

  • Personal essay (500–750 words) describing career goals, community involvement, and how the TexFirst Scholarship will support your journey.

  • Applicants should demonstrate commitment to community service, leadership, or volunteer activities.

Selection Process

  • Applications will be reviewed by the TexFirst Scholarship Committee.

  • Finalists may be asked to participate in an interview (in person or virtual).

  • Recipients will be notified via email and official letter.

Award Distribution

  • Scholarship funds will be paid directly to the accredited institution or program on behalf of the recipient.

  • Funds must be applied toward tuition, fees, books, or required program expenses.

Deadlines

  • Applications must be submitted by March 31st annually.

  • Award notifications will be sent by June 30th of that year.

Important Notes

• Scholarships are awarded at the discretion of the TexFirst Scholarship Committee.

• Awards are non-renewable unless specified; recipients may reapply in future cycles.

• Funds are disbursed directly to the recipient’s accredited institution.

• TexFirst Scholarship Fund reserves the right to amend this policy or application at any time.
