David Ortiz - Chief Executive Officer

Born and raised in Texas, I’ve always carried a deep pride for the Lone Star State. From my early years growing up in the Rio Grande Valley, I was immersed in agriculture through my school’s FFA Chapter in Ag Sales — an experience that taught me the value of hard work, perseverance, and community. After attending Texas Lutheran University where I played football, those same lessons carried me forward into both life and business.

Now based in San Antonio with my fiancée and 3 dogs, I founded TexFirst to give back to the state that gave me so much. During my five years in the automotive industry, I met Texans from every walk of life — from government officials, educators and small business owners to law enforcement officers and tradesmen. Through those interactions, I saw firsthand how vital these professions are to our communities, yet how often they’re overlooked by the next generation.

TexFirst was created to change that - to promote careers in the trades, law enforcement, agriculture, and medicine, and to make education and training in these fields more accessible for students across Texas. My goal is simple: to help Texans build strong, sustainable futures while keeping the spirit of our state alive through opportunity, grit, and service.

Terrell Hare - Chief Financial Officer

Growing up overseas in Germany with two parents proudly serving in the U.S. Army, I was fortunate to experience a wide range of cultures and perspectives early in life. Those experiences taught me to appreciate the challenges that people and communities face and the difference that opportunity can make.

I later studied Business Management abroad at York St. John University in England, where I also played semi-professional soccer. Competing at that level instilled in me a drive to lead with discipline, teamwork, and purpose - values I carry into everything I do today.

Now situated in Austin with my Fiancee and pups, I work as a business banker. That not only lets me serve the small-businesses here but also to serve underprivileged communities across Central Texas. My role allows me to advocate for financial wellbeing, host outreach events, and help families and small businesses access the resources they deserve.

At TexFirst Scholarship Fund, I’ve channeled that same passion for empowerment into helping students gain access to educational opportunities that can change their lives. I believe that when we invest in the next generation of Texans, we’re building stronger communities and a stronger future for our state.
